A while back I signed up for Photojojo’s Photo Time Capsule. What this does is twice a month mail you photos from your Flickr account that you uploaded a year ago. It’s a nice way to remember what you were doing twelve months ago as well as jog your memory on what style or cameras you were shooting back then. 1. Minas, we know it’s a tough question, but if you had to pick just one camera to shoot with from now until the end of time, what would that be? Minas: I wish i had a straight answer for this one. I use all the equipment I can get my hands on and surely have a shopping list of cameras I want to try and buy. Well, not exactly. But I’ve recently played around with black and white film a little bit more. It took me a while to really embrace it, but with the right camera, and maybe a filter, it can lead to awesome results. Now that’s it’s getting colder and greyer outside I find myself drawn to monochrome film. Weird though that I only started to enjoy black and white film in medium format. It has a really nice quality when you shoot with a Holga. To warm up with it, I stuffed a roll of Lucky SDH 100

Yashica Mat 124G test shots. I tried the #1 close-up lens with the broom to see how well the camera could be used for full-face portraits. If you click click click, you can see there’s a fair bit of detail.  Not bad for a first run!  Not bad at all.

It’s no secret, I’m a big fan of shooting film, both instant and developed. Next to Polaroid by far my favorite is medium format. I have a Pentacon Six TL and a Yashica Mat 124G, and of course a couple of plastic cameras including Holgas and a Diana+. I love shooting with all of them. Most of these cameras, except for a Praktica BX20 and a Polaroid SX-70 (sent to me as a gift by the most excellent Liz Shuman), I didn’t have a year ago. So how did I get here?
