NOTES:1) When people read where the entity said that it was none other than the spirit of old Kate Batts it is often erroneously assumed that Kate Batts was deceased at the time of the alleged haunting. In actuality, Kate Batts lived about a dozen years after the death of John Bell and, thus, the statement should be interpreted to mean that the entity was saying it was a spirit which old Kate Batts had conjured up or brought forth.2) Timothy Henson mentions in his work *The Black Patch Bells* that Kate and Fredrick Batts were buried just off Old Bells Cross Road not far from the home of John Bell Jr. However, the markers are missing so any exact location is unknown.3) Joel Egbert Bell sold his land and cabin in 1855 to his brother, Richard Williams Bell, although Richard Williams Bell did not reside in the cabin itself. Joel Egbert bought a farm just north of Springfield and is buried on that land. Photographs do exist of the house in which Joel Egbert lived near Springfield but the house has since been razed. A great many of Joel Egberts descendents are buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield including his son, Charles Caldwell Bell. I did take a photograph of Charles Caldwell Bell's grave which is available on my Bell Witch photo set on flickr the link of which I will provide in the description box of the last video in this series.
