  • Read, Steady, Speak

Since one of the key phrases of Mix is “a 48 hour conversation”, speaking is in the forefront of our minds. We’re always keen to encourage new speakers and to build people’s confidence in speaker to large audiences. As such, the NxtGen User Group boys are running a Speaker Idol competition, along the lines seen at TechEd and the UK Launch. Yes “Ready Steady Speak” is back for ReMix UK 08. For those of you not familiar with it, the format is as so: Contestants will present a 5 min session on

  • Encouraging "les auteurs" - we have a winner

Developer Day voting is open and there are a large number of sessions you can choose from. A while back I threw out a challenge to the girl geek community to try to encourage more female speakers and we ended up with three potential speakers from the fairer sex, one from an MVP, Bev Hatchard who we persuaded to speak at DDD Scotland and is now bitten by the presenting bug, one from Chris Hart on virtual worlds and a bunch of submissions from Helen Emerson. Now the competition was going to end

  • See You at DevWeek 2010 Baby #4!

2009 was the year I was finally going to make it to London for DevWeek. I have been to conferences in Europe but oddly never to London. Then I received some great news my wife and I are having another baby! The baby is due in March of 2009 so as much as Id like to go to DevWeek I had to bow out for 2009. I cant be out of.
