http://www.EmploymentCrossing.com Food allergies in American children seem to be on the rise, affecting 3 million kids, according to the first federal study of the problem.Experts tell the Associated Press this might be because parents are more aware of allergies, and quicker to have their kids checked out by a doctor.About one in 26 children reported food allergies last year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. That's up from one in 30 in 1997.The 18 percent increase is significant enough to be considered more than a statistical blip, said Amy Branum of the CDC, the study's lead author.Nobody knows for sure what's driving the increase. A doubling in peanut allergies — noted in earlier studies — is one factor, some experts said. Also, children seem to be taking longer to outgrow milk and egg allergies than they did in decades past. But also figuring into the equation are parents and doctors who are more likely to consider food as the trigger for symptoms like vomiting, skin rashes and breathing problems. In the past, parents and doctors might have just labeled a child sickly, rather than look for a cause such as a food allergy.

  • Chinese Healing Illustrations, Part One (44)

Chinese Healing Illustrations, Part One (44)This video highlights the differences between East and West in healing methods and approaches for different categories of illness. Flu, fever, cough, congestion, and associated symptomsChinese: The flu is a seasonal ailment common in winter and spring due to sudden weather change. It will pass in a few days. Resting and drinking plenty of water will do. To help reduce discomforts and quicken recovery, use herbs to expel the fever and phlegm, to moisten the throat and strengthen the lungs. Wear appropriate clothes and beware of contagion to reduce chances of catching a cold (See my videos on flu and cough).Western: Doctors also advise plenty of rest and water. Use pills to suppress body temperature, cough, phlegm, and nasal congestion. Antibiotics are commonly used, which may erode bodys own defense mechanism. As for prevention, flu shots are employed for everybody. Is this necessary? Joint Pains Chinese: Joint pains worsen when the weather changes. Rest enough to avoid over-exertion leading to more pains. Also avoid over-exposure to the elements of wind, humidity and cold with appropriate clothing. Use herbs to strengthen blood circulation for pain relief, and to strengthen joints, tendons and muscles (See my video on joint pains).Western: Use pills to kill pains, surgery to replace joints in severe cases. Little attention is paid to avoid over-exertion and over-exposure.Nasal AllergyChinese: Members of the same family do not all suffer from nasal allergy despite living in the same environment. This shows that the respiratory system of the patient must be over-sensitive to foreign materials in the air. Use herbs to strengthen the respiratory system to make it more robust (See my video on nasal allergy).Western: A long list is created for the causes of nasal allergy such as pollens, mold, dust, and pet hair. Pills may be available for some foreign materials that cause allergy. Little attempt is made to enhance the robustness of the respiratory system. CancerChinese: Nobody knew what cancer was 200 years ago. Only the ancient method is employed nowadays to treat cancer. The herbs provide two appropriate treatment methods: cleansing the poison within the body and strengthening the organs to fight the disease. The strengthening herbs also help recovery once the cancer subsides (See my video on cancer recovery).Western: Nobody knew what cancer was 200 years ago. However, new methods have been developed such as radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery. Western methods are much stronger and effective for emergency cases, but they put the body under severe stress during treatment resulting in a very feeble condition. Digestive DisorderChinese: This comprises a host of symptoms, all resulted from a weak and sensitive digestive system. The main cause is bad eating habit such as irregular meals and an unnecessarily restricted diet. When the digestive system is strengthened and made more robust with herbs, all the symptoms will gradually disappear (See my video on digestive disorder). Western: The tendency is to treat each symptom in isolation such as acid reflux, indigestion, gas, constipation, etc. A restrictive diet is usually recommended, which may cause the digestive system to be over-sensitive. Little attention is paid to making the digestive system more robust. Please go to www.herbsandtea.com for further information.Raw herbs and herbal capsules can be tailor-made to suit your needs.
