  • The Flu Season is Upon Us Again!

Officially, the flu season begins on the first of October and runs until spring. Even though the CDC says that this year’s flu is starting out a little bit milder than the two previous years, I know several people that are suffering through a nasty type of flu already this year. This stuff starts out with the usual fever and aches, and then turns into “cold” symptoms that hang on for weeks! We all know how nasty this is on a personal level, but a virulent long lasting flu like this can al

Fabulous Frunished Apartment with Private Pool
    janiegray
    35 sec - 29 Oct 2008

This is a fully furnished 1 bedroom, 1 bath apartment in a fine Victorian home in Atlanta's historic Kirkwood neighborhood. This main level apartment is available for rental by the month and includes everything you need! Just bring your clothes! It has a wonderful living room (TV and satellite included), dining area, and fully equipped kitchen with all appliances (even a coffee maker!), pots, pans, dishes, and glassware. There's a spacious bedroom and bathroom (all linens included too!), and you have access to the spectacular, deep front porch and a gorgeous new backyard swimming pool. You also have off-street parking for up to 2 cars.Kirkwood (established 1899) is one of Atlanta's oldest suburbs as is located between downtown Atlanta and downtown Decatur. In recent years, this neighborhood has experienced a dramatic resurgence. Many residents belong to the active Kirkwood Neighbors' Organization, which holds monthly meetings in a neighborhood church. Demand for homes in the area has skyrocketed in the past decade as young professionals return to Intown neighborhoods to reclaim the strong sense of community they lost in the suburbs. Fine Victorian homes are sprinkled in among the predominant Craftsman bungalows, and many of these lovely homes have been lovingly renovated to their former glory. Sensitive new construction is taking place on virtually every available piece of land.New commercial development is taking place in the area as well. The Kirkwood business district is also in the process of a radical transformation. A major intown developer is creating Kirkwood Village along Hosea L. Williams Drive. The new development is expected to include 12,500 square feet of upscale retail plus several new restaurants. A neighborhood sports bar is also under development. This new business district will be a great addition to the neighborhood within the next couple of years! Another major new development is the Edgewood Retail District at the intersection of Hosea L. Williams Boulevard and Moreland Avenue. It features 500,000 square feet of retail space and includes major national retailers (Kroger; Target; Lowe's; Barnes & Noble; Office Depot; Bed, Bath & Beyond; and Petco) as well as smaller stores. The Kirkwood streetscape is also in the process of being revitalized with new sidewalks, street lights, and tree plantings.Area amenities include: Bessie Branham Park (an excellent neighborhood park with tennis courts, a new playground, and an excellent recreational center); the Charlie Yates Public Golf Course at East Lake (which offers reduced greens fees to residents of the 30317 zip code); and the wonderful East Lake Family YMCA -- a state of the art facility that opened in 2001.Kirkwood and the surrounding neighborhoods are served by the East Lake and Edgewood/Candler Park MARTA rail stations. The neighborhood is also located on the PATH, a multi-use urban trail that is enormously popular with local cyclists, runners, walkers, and in-line skaters.

Congress questions FDA objectivity on BPA plastic safetyhttp://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2008-10-24-bpa-congress-fda_N.htmSafety Of Baby Bottle Chemical Questionedhttp://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/29/health/main4555421.shtmlBisphenol A (BPA) Is Dangerous After Allhttp://teabird.com/2008/10/29/bisphenol-a-bpa-is-dangerous-after-all/Bisphenol AWhat is bisphenol A?Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical produced in large quantities for use primarily in the production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins.Where is BPA found?Polycarbonate plastics have many applications including use in some food and drink packaging, e.g., water and infant bottles, compact discs, impact-resistant safety equipment, and medical devices. Epoxy resins are used as lacquers to coat metal products such as food cans, bottle tops, and water supply pipes. Some dental sealants and composites may also contribute to BPA exposure. How does BPA get into the body? The primary source of exposure to BPA for most people is through the diet. While air, dust, and water are other possible sources of exposure, BPA in food and beverages accounts for the majority of daily human exposure. Bisphenol A can leach into food from the protective internal epoxy resin coatings of canned foods and from consumer products such as polycarbonate tableware, food storage containers, water bottles, and baby bottles. The degree to which BPA leaches from polycarbonate bottles into liquid may depend more on the temperature of the liquid or bottle, than the age of the container. BPA can also be found in breast milk. Why are people concerned about BPA?One reason people may be concerned about BPA is because human exposure to BPA is widespread. The 2003-2004 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found detectable levels of BPA in 93% of 2517 urine samples from people six years and older. The CDC NHANES data are considered representative of exposures in the United States. Another reason for concern, especially for parents, may be because some animal studies report effects in fetuses and newborns exposed to BPA. If I am concerned, what can I do to prevent exposure to BPA? Some animal studies suggest that infants and children may be the most vulnerable to the effects of BPA. Parents and caregivers, can make the personal choice to reduce exposures of their infants and children to BPA:Dont microwave polycarbonate plastic food containers. Polycarbonate is strong and durable, but over time it may break down from over use at high temperatures. Polycarbonate containers that contain BPA usually have a #7 on the bottom (http://www.recyclenow.org/r_plastics.html) Reduce your use of canned foods. When possible, opt for glass, porcelain or stainless steel containers, particularly for hot food or liquids. Use baby bottles that are BPA free. http://www.niehs.nih.gov/news/media/questions/sya-bpa.cfm

"Car surfing": è l'ultima follia dagli Stati Uniti

    Unknown length - 29 Oct 2008

After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, Internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. • So You Stay Across The Street From The CDC?

When the CDC is your neighbor, you already know that The Spirit of the warrior is no longer with you....Big Brother is tracking you with GPS!iPhone?? NO THANKSAn example is CDMA digital cellular. Each base station has a GPS timing receiver to synchronize its spreading codes with other base stations to facilitate inter-cell hand off and support hybrid GPS/CDMA positioning of mobiles for emergency calls (JUST EMERGENCY CALLS?! YEAH, RIGHT) and other applications.GPS functionality has now started to move into mobile phones en masse. The first handsets with integrated GPS were launched already in the late 1990s, and were available for broader consumer availability on networks such as those run by Nextel, Sprint and Verizon in 2002 in response to US FCC mandates for handset positioning. (MANDATED BY BIG BROTHER!)GPS phone is used to track employee leaving early from work! THATS BS!http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/3...States are tracking where you drive and how much you drive! BIG BROTHER IS WATCHINGBig Brother todaySince the publication of Nineteen Eighty-Four, the phrase Big Brother has entered general usage, to describe any overly-inquisitive or overly-controlling authority figure or attempts by government to increase surveillance. The magazine Book ranked Big Brother #59 on its 100 Best Characters in Fiction Since 1900 list.In October 2006, the book The 101 Most Influential People Who Never Lived listed Big Brother as #2. Wizard Magazine rated him the 75th greatest villain of all time. The worldwide reality television show, Big Brother, is based on the concept of people always being watched and being under constant surveillance from this novel. In a play on the Big Brother name, some privacy advocates use the phrase Little Brother to refer to the increasing threats to privacy stemming not from institutional surveillance, but from individuals snooping on each other with the help of new technology such as camera phones, search engines, and social web sites.Walter Cronkite, in his Preface to the paperback edition of 1984 published by The New American Library, said Orwell wrote his novel as an essay on power, how it is acquired and maintained, how those who seek it or seek to keep it tend to sacrifice anything and everything in its name.
