"I Left My Heart in San Francisco" is a popular song, written in 1954, and most known as Tony Bennett's signature song, from his 1962 album of the same name.The music was written by George Cory, with lyrics by Douglass Cross. Although the song was originally written for Claramae Turner, who often used it as an encore, she never got around to recording it. The song found its way to Tony Bennett through Ralph Sharon, Bennett's longtime accompanist and friends with the composers. It was Sharon who brought the music along when he and Bennett were on tour and on their way to San Francisco.The first recording of the song was by Tony Bennett and became a chart hit in 1962. It reached number 19 on the U.S. pop singles chart and spent close to a year on various other charts, achieving gold record status. It then won the top prize of Grammy Award for Record of the Year, as well as for Best Male Solo Vocal Performance. In 2001 it was ranked 23rd on an RIAA/NEA list of the most historically significant Songs of the 20th Century. The song was also covered in 1969 by now legendary R&B recording artist Bobby Womack for Minit Records, on the album My Prescription. it peaked at #48 on the Billboard R&B charts that year.The song was adopted by the City and County of San Francisco as one of its two official anthems (the other being the title song from the 1936 film San Francisco). It has often been performed in public by Bennett in concert as well as on special occasions, most notably in the final National Football League game at Kezar Stadium featuring the San Francisco 49ers, game three of the 2002 World Series in San Francisco, and at the reopening of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge after sections of the bridge were damaged by the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Bennett's recording of the song is also played over the public address system at AT&T Park after all San Francisco Giants home game victories.In his concerts in the 2000s, Bennett typically performs the song mid-way through his set, after which the house lights are turned up while the audience engages in extended applause. When that finally subsides, the house lights go down and the show resumes. On November 8, 2006, Bennett performed "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He stated that his first performance of that song was also on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson when the song was first released in 1962, on Johnny Carson's first night on the show.The Songwriters Hall of Fame gave Bennett the Towering Performance Award for his vocal rendition of the song.

Alamgir is a famous Pakistani pop singer of the 1970s, who is in fact one of the pioneers of the Urdu pop music in PakistanAlamgir was born in 1954 to Bengali parents in East Pakistan, which is now Bangladesh. He studied in Mirzapur Cadet College, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. He briefly studied in PAF Shaheen School, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Where Munni Begum also studied. He left home at the age of 16, in search of his destiny. He brought with him his guitar and an extra shirt and a small tape recorder. He did not know anyone in Karachi and desperately was in search of a job. He worked in Karachi, playing guitar, at a small cafe in Tariq Road area called the "Cafe D Khan". The cafe was famous for its intellectual gatherings and that is where he was spotted. His remuneration was a free meal at the hotel. Someone from the audience in the hotel liked his Guitar playing and told him about the programme at the TV station called Ferozan where Khushbakht Aliya was conducting a show for the youth. He gave his audition, Khushbakht liked his Guitar playing but she had already selected someone else. It just so happened that Sohail Rana, the music director was in the next studio and asked someone to call Alamgir to his car outside the TV station. He said, he liked his (Alamgir's) playing and asked if he would like to perform for children. This is how he entered in the formal world of Music.He started singing on the Pakistani Television at the beginning of the 1970s when the people in Pakistan were not familiar with the modern Urdu music and when western music was generally considered as modern music in Pakistan. Alamgirs first song Albela Rahi, was an Urdu translation of a foreign language song. It proved a hit in 1973 among the youth of the 70s. There was a time during the 70s when the music loving boys and girls gathered regularly on the streets near the Karachi Jheel Park to get a glimpse of this pop singer as he used to travel along in his red sedan in evening. Alamgirs second pop song Pyar hai zindagi ka gehna was also an Urdu translation of a foreign song. He soon became popular among the younger generation in the country. Alamgir is also known for his many renditions of Bengali music. The most notable Bengali song he is known to sing is Aamay Bhashaili Rey.Alamgir made a dash on the Pakistani music scene. He sang for the Pakistani television in the very beginning of his career but later as the time passed he started singing for the Pakistani music industry. He also performs abroad. A tempo giustoPerformed by the Amsterdam Baroque OrchestraDirected by Ton Koopman*Unico Willem van Wassenaer, Count of the Empire, was a Dutch diplomat and composer.His most important surviving compositions are the Concerti Armonici, which until recently have been misattributed to the Italian composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1710-1736).Unico Willem Van Wassenaer was born into a distinguished family of wealth, power and accomplishment, the house of Wassenaer. He studied law and other courses in Leiden and in 1723 married Dodonea Lucia van Goslinga (the daughter of Sicco van Goslinga), who gave him three children. Van Wassenaer occupied high diplomatic, military and commercial posts. It is known that he was respected not only as a diplomat but also as a musician.Between 1725 and 1740 he wrote the Concerti Armonici, but being a nobleman he did not want to publish them in his own name (or because he doubted his ability as a composer). The concertos were published in 1740 by the Italian violin player Carlo Ricciotti (16811756), to whom the concertos were attributed at first. Van Wassenaer has therefore been called "the mystery composer." The Polish composer Franciszek Lessel (17801838) asserted incorrectly that the concertos were written by Pergolesi. Since the style of the concertos is Italian, laid out in typical Roman fashion with four parts for violin and consisting of four parts instead of the Venetian three, they are comparable to works by Pietro Locatelli.However, in 1979-80 a manuscript of the six concerti was found in the archives of Twickel Castle (the castle where Van Wassenaer was born), labelled 'Concerti Armonici'. Although the handwriting was not by Van Wassenaer, the manuscript did have an introduction in his hand, reading: "Partition de mes concerts gravez par le Sr. Ricciotti". Because of the research done by the Dutch musicologist Albert Dunning, there can be no doubt that the concerti were written by Van Wassenaer.Concerti Armonici were among the works that formed the basis for Igor Stravinsky's Pulcinella, based on works considered at the time to be by Pergolesi.Apart from Concerti Armonici, three sonatas for recorder and continuo have been discovered in the early 1990s.
