Bridgestone Corporation (株式会社ブリヂストン, Kabushiki-gaisha Burijisuton?) (TYO: 5108) is a Japanese rubber conglomerate founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi (石橋正二郎, Ishibashi Shōjirō?) in the city of Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan. The name Bridgestone comes from a literal translation and transposition of ishibashi, meaning stone bridge in Chinese characters of Japanese.Bridgestone is currently ranked first in the global tire market, with Michelin second, Goodyear third and Continental fourth.[1] As of the end of 2005, production facilities belonging to the Bridgestone Group have increased to 141 spread throughout twenty-four nations of the world. In order to attain this level of globalization, the company established a new set of corporate policies in the year 2001. In continuation of this, company's Brand Vision was also established in 2003.Bridgestone has supplied tires in Formula One since 1997, although the company one-off produced Formula One tires at the 1976 and 1977 Japanese Grand Prix for Japanese entrants such as Kazuyoshi Hoshino's Heros Racing and Kojima. Harvey Samuel Firestone (December 20, 1868 February 7, 1938) was the founder of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, one of the first global makers of automobile tires and an important contributor to North American economic growth in the 20th century.Firestone was born in his family's farm house on December 20, 1868 in the small town of Columbiana, Ohio, the second of three children, to Benjamin Firestone, a farmer, and A. Catherine Flickinger. The Firestone ancestors were German immigrants named Feuerstein.[1] After graduating from Columbiana High School, Firestone worked for the Columbus Buggy Company in Columbus, Ohio before starting his own company in 1890, making rubber tires for carriages. In 1895 he married Idabelle Smith.

BY TAYLOR MARSH Well? For one thing... amidst the hate mail, which continues daily, apologies are pouring in from the kitties. Below is only a small part of a long, four-part email I received recently. Though longer than most, it gives you an idea of others I’ve received in the last weeks. Dear Taylor, I wanted to write to you and apologize for things I’ve thought and said in the past after our primary elections were over. I admit, I was very very mad at you for not going along with wha
My Only Election Speak
My Only Election Speak October 26th, 2008 | A lot of friends have started asking me about my lack of an opinion on this year’s upcoming election. Normally I have divulged my opinion to the countless masses on a point, counter-point basis, but as I get older I’ve started to realize that talking politics usually ends up a fruitless endeavor and I would rather waste my lung air over things like cheering for football games and running through the woods chasing deer. You know - useful stuff. Ju

Acceptance comes with age
I’ve been traveling a bit lately, and I was talking by phone to a North Dakota boy Tuesday. Here are the three sentences that this good Republican named Stan had to say about the prospect of the election of Barack Obama: First, “It looks like the young guy is going to win.” He followed that with, “Well, that’s all right.” And ended by saying, “We’ll just give him a chance and see what he can do.” Acceptance comes with age.
