Zeitgeist: Addendum is separated into four parts. The first part criticizes the practice of the Fractional Reserve Banking system. And in a very simplistic way the film tries to convey how the Federal Reserve creates money, and what each dollar bill represents -that is, debt. The film goes on to present a case for how the Fed. loans this newly created "debt money" to the U.S. Treasury in exchange for bonds. In sequence, the money received from the Fed ends up as deposits in commercial banks, which through the fractional reserve system is multiplied and becomes loaned to customers. The film comments how "absurd" such a system is, since the interest that must be paid for the bonds can only create a perpetual cycle of debt -since the Federal Reserve note (i.e. the dollar bill) was created according to the "principal" value of the bond, and not the interest. The second part is a documentary style interview with John Perkins, in which he describes his role as a self-described Economic Hitman (EHM). He claims he helped CIA and the ruling political/corporate elites who have worked to undermine legitimate foreign regimes who put the interests of their populations before those of transnational corporations. The third part describes the Venus Project, a proposal created by Jacque Fresco. The film promotes the Venus Project as a sustainable solution for mankind on earth. Its main goal is to produce a "resource-based economy" using modern technology. The fourth part states that everything wrong with the world is "fundamentally the result of a collective ignorance of two of the most basic insights humans can have about reality -the 'emergent' and 'symbiotic' aspects of natural law."The film then suggests actions for "social transformation", such as boycotts of large banks, the mainstream media, the military, and energy companies, rejecting the political structure and "creating critical mass". Note-This film was not rated highly by most of the 'top critics' because they say it offered no solutions to the problems laid out. Although I agree to an extent, this film does in fact offer solutions, and the emphasis is on how 'each' person needs to change themselves first. This is a great lesson in economics, and the first half of this movie is well put together and will be very educational to those not familiar with how the Federal Reserve system corrupts our economy. The second half of the film starts to promote the idea of a Utopian society. While this is all well and good, and could probably be created and obtained over time with a lot of work and many civil battles, they fail to truly give us an avenue we can take to get to this Utopian dream in todays corrupt and idiotic mess we call a society. They do talk about the 5 natural energies we need to switch over to in order to end our GIANT dependence for fossil fuels. These clean natural energies are Wind, Solar, Wave, Tidal, and Geothermal. These 5 different energies could power our entire world forever. With all the money from the illegal 'interest' the Federal Reserve charges us for printing our money, with all the money from these stupid selfish illegal wars we create, with all the money spend on unnecessary government programs and departments, and with all the money the corporations steal from 'excessive profits', WITH ALL OF THIS MONEY we could be investing in these energies, creating a new universal and working health care system, fixing our country's deteriorating infrastructure, creating millions of new jobs, funding necessary social programs, massive surpluses across the country, lower taxes, PAY OFF OUR DEBT! IS ANYBODY OUT THERE!? DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS!? ARE YOU GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!? I'm beginning to think the only way for real change is a second Civil War, I have lost all hope for real change with our current system, just look the polls and you will see a country full of sheep still playing the same game. Medjugorje part II[This answer is not intended as an exhaustive history, an attempt to settle allegations or open questions, much less to judge the authenticity of the apparitions.]History. On June 24, 1981, six children in the town of Medjugorje, Yugoslavia (today, Bosnia-Herzegovina), began to experience phenomena which they alleged to be apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This apparition had a message of peace for the world, as well as a call to conversion, prayer and fasting. It also entrusted to the children secret messages about events to be fulfilled in the future. These "secrets," confided individually to different visionaries, have not been revealed to the public. The apparitions themselves have continued almost daily since 1981, with some of the now young adults continuing to experience them regularly (those who have not yet received all the secrets intended for them) and others not. Originally they occurred on a hilltop near the town where a large Cross commemorating the Redemption exists. They have since occurred in many other places, including the parish church, St. James, and wherever the visionaries happen to be located at the time of the apparition.The news that Our Lady might be appearing immediately began to attract pilgrims to Medjugorje, first from the surrounding countryside, and then, despite the communist government of that day, from Europe and the whole world. These included clergy and theologians, as well as experts from the physical and medical sciences who testified to some kind of phenomenon taking place when the apparition was said to be occurring. The private judgement of these early visitors did much to bolster people's belief in the events at Medjugorje. In addition, some pilgrims reported seeing the sun spin and being able to look at it without pain or eye damage, others that their rosaries turned gold colored, still others that remarkable physical or spiritual/moral healings had taken place. All of these contributed to the fame of the alleged apparition. Ecclesiastical Evaluation. The initial, informal, response of the Bishop Zanic of Mostar, in whose diocese Medjugorje is found, is said to have been favorable. However, it is alleged that comments attributed to the vision that was critical of the secular clergy and himself convinced him the visions could not be authentic. He nonetheless established a commission in 1982, comprised of theologians, scientific experts and religious superiors to investigate the Medjugorje events. Its three year study produced a vote from two members of the commission in favor of supernaturality, one that it was authentic initially but no longer so, one abstention and eleven votes that nothing supernatural was occurring there. Letter of Bishop ZanicSince the Medjugorje events had exceeded the scope of a local event, Cardinal Kuharic, President of the Yugoslavian Bishops Conference, announced in January 1987 that a national commission would be established to continue investigating. This decision had been communicated to the Holy See, which stated that it accepted the judgment of the diocesan commission under the authority of the local bishop but urged, as well, that the work be continued at the national level. The Bishops' Conference's instructions to the faithful were that pilgrimages should not be organized to Medjugorje on the basis of its being supernatural and that the Marian devotion of Catholics should be in accordance with Church teaching.In April 1991 the following declaration was made by the Bishops' Conference of the former Yugoslavia: The bishops, from the very beginning, have been following the events of Medjugorje through the Bishop of the diocese [Mostar], the Bishop's Commission and the Commission of the Bishops Conference of Yugoslavia on Medjugorje. On the basis of the investigations so far it can not be affirmed that one is dealing with supernatural apparitions and revelations. [emphasis added]
