The call for a vote on opening drilling options was bi-partisan, and desired by most Americans. Speaker Pelosi simply refused to allow it to be considered. George Stephanopoulos, also a Democrat, asks her the right questions about this. It concerns me that this issue has left the forefront of our thinking on politics right now, because this sort of progress blockage (I'm challenging the method, specifically) may be much easier is Senator Obama holds the Presidential pen. It won't matter if there are good reasons and arguments to be made for something, no matter who supports them - their own party, their own country... They just may not even be heard.

Gasoline prices have dropped late. That may present the illusion that energy should no longer be an issue for us. It is more likely that this drop is temporary. It will come up again soon, to say nothing of within the next four years. Most of America has wanted us to start using our own sources of oil for some time. Senator McCain allowed the precipitous rise in oil prices to affect his viewpoint. Senator Obama actually seems a little glib on this topic, and Speaker Pelosi has proposed that areas which are available, but not viable, be explored as if they are viable before more can be made available.

Actually El turned 2 in August, so its about 2 months back but I had been so busy that I had no chance to blog this. My little one is growing up so fast.
